Industrial Paper Towel Holder
I’ve had the same paper towel holder since 2009, and I’ve wanted to change it since about 2010, but I haven’t ever found anything I really loved.
This weekend I decided that I couldn’t live with my current holder any longer and had to have something new. I found this one online that matches my shelves, but $57 seemed like way too much to spend.
After a call to my brother Christopher (who built my shelves) and a trip to Lowe’s, I had everything I needed. It took less than 15 minutes to build once I got all of my supplies together.
Supplies to Buy (Prices listed for Lowe’s, all black iron 3/4” width)
-12 inch pipe nipple ($5.98)
-90° elbow ($2.74)
-Floor flange fitting ($5.48)
-End cap ($2.24)
-3.5” nipple ($2.38) (don’t love that name 😬)
Total: $18.82
Supplies I already had
-Drill
-Drill bits
-4 screws with anchors (I spray painted silver screws black to match the iron)
-Pencil
-Screwdriver
-Hammer
INSTRUCTIONS
The assembly was super simple! I held the floor flange to the wall, and then penciled in the places for the holes. I used wall anchors since people will be pulling on this to get towels.
I drilled the four holes and then hammered in the anchors. From there I attached the flange with the spray painted screws and then attached the remaining pieces in the following order: 3.5” piece, 90° elbow, 12” piece, end cap.
That’s it! Super easy to knock out in an afternoon.
TIP for spray painting the screws:
Stick them into a piece of cardboard to spray easily without covering your fingers in paint.
